Here's a new track: The Poem of Overgesticulation. I hope you will like it.
I'll try to add a RSS feed to this handmade site whenever, so you can listen to new tracks with those fancy newfangled podcast software thingies that I hear are all the rage with kids nowadays.
I have been attempting to produce reasonably bearable music since late 2006. On this page, I will share some of my tracks.
Comments are always appreciated, please write to arnaud@(this domain) in English or French, whichever you are most comfortable with.
The Poem of Overgesticulation
Carenway candidate (demo), 2007
A song to overgesticulate to, but with class.
Master, sir, did you just see my MAD SKILLZ!?
Carenway candidate (demo), 2007
While all the music I made is more or less intended to be somewhat used in my game project, I didn’t try very hard to make it fit to become VGM. I forced myself to follow the standard construction of the genre to the letter in this one. As I’m starting to understand how to get a sound I like out of the brass samples I use, I went for a sorta jazzy kinda sound.
Calendriers Empilés
Carenway candidate (demo), 2006
This song started out as the first decent thing I had ever written. It has then gone through way too many rewrites, most of which sounded horrible.
It is to be used as the introduction scene of Carenway, a game project of mine, which is why it has this overly dramatic and cinematic feel.
Occasional Vampire
Carenway candidate (demo), 2006
This is what the Castlevania soundtrack would sound like if it were about happiness and puppies.
Nukes I bought on the Internet
Carenway candidate (demo), 2006
GR8 SELLER ARRIVED YESTREDAY OK CONDITION & WELL PACKED W/ NEWSPAPER + STYROFOAM. WILL DO BUSINRSS AGAIN AAAAAAAAAA++++++
Whiladeilma Neeradutirru
Carenway candidate (demo), 2006
Ever heard about Electronic Voice Phenomenon? It’s one of those things you can’t believe people actually believe in. Basically, they believe that ghosts can communicate with you when you record some white noise—you only have to “enhance” the recording by speeding it up or down, applying bucketloads of heavy sound filters, then you affirm that you hear words until everyone agrees with you. It works the same way as Rorschach inkblot tests work, allowing your brain to make up patterns where there are none.
Anyway, the vocoded sample says “Whiladeilma Neeradutirru” in this song.
Believe me on this one.
Obsessararvations
Carenway candidate (demo), 2007
I loathe many words with a vehement passion. But making up new words is not enough of a solution.
I think I should make up a whole new alphabet. And maybe pronunciations that humans can’t physically produce. If I did this, I would make a word that would describe perfectly how I wanted this song to sound like. Not that I would share that word, of course.
To make this song, I collected synth patches that sounded quite like that word, then attempted to arrange some of them in a way that sounded quite like that word, but not exactly.
That’s why I made up the word ‘Obsessararvations’, which describes how this song sounds, unlike the unwritable and unpronounceable word I mentioned earlier, which describes how I indented it to sound.
Well, at least that's how I understand the title, its meaning may actually be even more complicated than I think it is.
Superdignity
Carenway candidate (demo), 2007
My first attempt at a piano-driven rock track. I think I got the piano right. I’ll probably improve the rest someday.
The magnisonant ballet of overlooked divinities
Carenway candidate (demo), 2007
While magnisonant is perfectly cromulent, I don’t think it’s worth mentioning. You’re probably used to my titling gimmick by now. Look, I make the music, I also make the titles, couldn’t you just do your part and decide for yourself what they are about? It would save me a lot of work.
Well, not that making this kind of sugary trancey tunes is that much work, as blindly applying the formula is a good substitute for talent. But I like the results, and that’s all that matters to me.
Signal des Indécis
Carenway candidate (demo), 2006
I’d say this is a first attempt at orchestral music, if it weren’t for the fact that every song currently on this site is a first attempt at something.
Sowdge
Carenway candidate (demo), 2007
Best listened to in a warm place, with many suckers being cold passing by. Precipitations would also help.
Dawnive
Carenway candidate (demo), 2007
Many beginners try to hide their inexperience behind the fancy “experimental” word. Others like to be self-deprecating, and I fall into that trap sometimes. I think my method is being a smartass. Where would be the fun in filling out those yellow description fields I painstakingly designed with accurate descriptions like “Yet another weird trance-sounding thing”, when I can add to the general confusion instead?
